Getting the CogniLens App
Where can I use CogniLens?
CogniLens is available on iOS, Android, the Web app, and the Chrome browser extension.
Can I use one account across devices?
Yes. CogniLens syncs your account and your text preferences so you can use the same setup across devices.
What can I read in CogniLens?
You can open common file types like .DOCX, .PDF, .EPUB, .TXT, and .RTF (and you can also capture printed text using the camera).
I can’t find the app in the store—why?
First, double-check spelling and confirm availability in your region (currently US, Canada, and India).
Personalizing the App
How do I find the best settings for me?Start with one small change (like spacing), then add more only if you need them. CogniLens is designed so you can adjust text in real time based on what helps you most.
Will my experience be the same across versions?That’s the goal. Your account and preferences sync, so your reading setup can follow you across devices.
Why does the camera/text scan feel slow sometimes?CogniLens uses built-in OCR and AI to scan and convert text, and speed can depend on your device’s processing power.
Using Transformation Features
What kinds of text transformations does CogniLens offer?CogniLens applies 15+ customizable transformations, including spacing adjustments, syllable breaks, confusable-letter styling, and vowel coloring.
What are “Confuseables”? A transformation that helps by capitalizing commonly confused letter combinations Examples: b/d and p/q are letter forms that are often confused.
What are “Touchwords”?Touchwords can help you track text word-by-word, with optional voice support.
What is syllable support?CogniLens can add phonetic syllabication and accent/syllable highlighting to support decoding.
Why do some words stay “normal”?The dictionary is currently built to about an 8th grade reading level, so words not recognized, including many proper nouns, may appear as unprocessed text. Some words are homographs, meaning they are spelled the same but have different meanings and sounds. For example, “lead” can mean to guide (“lead the way”) or a metal (“made of lead”). CogniLens does not process homographs yet, so those words may stay unchanged. We’re working on adding support.
Managing Your Account
Do I need a separate account for each version (iOS, Android, web, Chrome)?No. One CogniLens account works across all versions, with the same settings.
What plans are available?We offer monthly and yearly subscriptions, plus an option for schools, educators, and organizations.
Do you offer a free trial?Yes. Your subscription includes a free 7-day trial. You won’t be charged until the trial ends.
When does billing start?Billing begins after your 7-day trial ends, unless you cancel before it ends.
Do subscriptions renew automatically?Yes. Subscriptions renew automatically unless you cancel.
Can I cancel anytime?Yes. You can cancel at any time. Your access continues through the end of your current period.
Where do I manage my subscription?Manage your subscription in the same place you started it (for example, in your device’s subscription settings or in your account area).
I switched devices. Will my account still work?Yes. Sign in with the same account to use CogniLens across devices and platforms.
I’m logged in on multiple devices—will it break anything?No. You can use your account across devices. If something looks out of sync, sign out and sign back in.
How do I redeem a promo code? In the app: Profile icon → Settings → Subscription → Redeem Code, then enter your code.
I’m a school, educator, or business. How do we get access for a group?Use the Contact button below to tell us your group size and how you plan to use CogniLens.
What if I have a billing question or a charge I don’t recognize?Contact us with the email on your account and the device/platform you used. We’ll help you sort it out.
